  • Kerf
    - The cutting slot made when a saw blade passes through timber.
  • Key
    - To roughen the surface of a material to give a grip to succeeding coats of paint or before glueing.
  • Kicker rail
    - Rail which prevents a drawer tipping forwards when pulled out.
  • Knee-kicker
    - A tool for carpet fitting. Spikes grip the carpet and the tool is bumped with the knee to stretch it.
  • Knock down
    - Structural units complete in various parts which can be self-assembled.
  • Knot
    - Cross grained disc occurring in cut timber formed by cutting through the insertion of a branch.
  • Knotting
    - Sealer, made from shellac, that prevenrs wood resin bleeding through a surface finish.
  • Knurled
    - Impressed with a series of fine grooves designed to improve the grip, for instance a knurled knob or handle.
